Rock Drill Demand Leads to More Pit Carburizing Capacity (Background From “The Monty”)

“Monark” is a family-owned manufacturer of rock drilling tools based in Sweden with additional operations in Oslo, Norway. The firm’s history goes back to 1945 and currently they produce 500,000 drill rods and 100,000 drill bits annually-current sales figures show a 17% growth in the Rock Tools division over just a 6 month period.

Because of these volumes and increasing demand “Monark” has continued to expand their in-house heat-treating department which means an additional pit carburizing furnace. In late 2025 “Monark” made the decision to add another pit furnace, in February of this year a pit was installed, in June the furnace was installed, and just last week the second furnace entered production. These photos show the project as it progressed.
