Furnace Builder CAN-ENG Lands Walking Beam Furnace Order
“Can-Eng Furnaces International Ltd. has been awarded a contract to design and supply a high-temperature plate processing austenitizing furnace system to produce critical wear components used in ground engaging equipment.
The new furnace system has been engineered to provide precise temperature uniformity, consistent metallurgical performance, and high production throughput to meet the demanding requirements of heavy-duty wear components operating in some of the world’s most severe service environments.
The furnace utilizes a unique air-cooled Walking Beam design which allows for the recovery of waste heat to be used as part of the building’s heating system. Engineered to accommodate plates up to 8 feet (2.44 metres) wide, the Walking Beam configuration minimizes product distortion while providing reliable material handling throughout the heat treatment cycle, making it well suited for processing large, heavy plate components.
Thermal input is supplied through direct-fired auto-recuperative burners, providing efficient heat transfer while reducing fuel consumption. Furnace combustion, process control, and walking beam motion are integrated through a Siemens S7-1500F programmable logic controller (PLC).
