Midwest USA Commercial Heat Treater Closes Down Rotary Retort Furnaces
Going back a number of years Rotary Retort Furnaces were a common fixture in the heat treatment industry around the world-for a number of reasons the technology has largely fallen out of favor although in some applications they are still the technology of choice.
As an example, automotive parts supplier “Borg Warner” and chain saw chain supplier “Oregon Cutting Tools” both still run a number of rotary retort furnaces for components which are remarkable similar-small chain links.
However few companies are still investing in this technology and as far as we at “The Monty” know the only furnace builder which still offers new rotary retort furnace lines is “SECO/WARWICK”.
With that background out of the way it would appear that there is a demand for this technology afterall. When the USA Midwest heat treater closed down their rotary lines a buyer surfaced within a week and all the lines are destined for a new home proving that even older technologies can find a new home.
