Kolene Corporation announced the promotion of Peter L. Shoemaker to Chief Operating Officer for the corporation effective January 1, 2025. Mr. Shoemaker will continue to lead Kolene’s chemical supply chain & order fulfillment departments, as well as the company’s critical replacement parts revenue segment for Kolene. Shoemaker, 45, who holds a BA and an MBAfrom Central Michigan University, joined Kolene in 2003 and has held numerous positions within the company –from commercial processing sales, field service, assisting in the deployment of Kolene’s heat treat salts. Throughout his career, Mr. Shoemaker has not only forged numerous strategic partnerships and key relationships with critical suppliers of Kolene’s raw materials, but also with the company’s most vital service providers.
His experience and understanding of the company’s unique chemistry needs has allowed Shoemaker to find creative ways to maximize and leverage Kolene’s requirements of crucial chemical constituents — which has greatly contributed to the company’s profitability and success over the years. In his new COO role, Mr. Shoemaker has not only gained responsibility for the company’s commercial processing revenue segment, but also has management responsibility and oversight for Kolene’s internal R&D efforts and Chemical Lab activities. The R&D and Lab Services responsibilities is a critical function within Kolene, as the corporation continues to make significant advances in its traditional cleaning & conditioning chemistries, as well asinroads into Kolene’s new portfolio of heat treat salts.
Outside of work, Mr. Shoemaker is a nationally ranked water skier – competing internationally and serves as President of the Michigan Water Ski Association. He is also an accomplished snow skier and coaches alpine ski racing part time. He and his wife Amy have two children, and reside in Northville, Michigan. Founded in 1939 by John H. Kolene Corporation announced the promotion of Timothy D. Shoemaker to Chief Operating Officer for the corporation effective January 1, 2025. Mr. Shoemaker will continue to lead Kolene’s sales efforts in several key revenue segments, including chemical sales, technical service, and equipment sales and project management. Joining the company in 2012, Mr. Shoemaker began his career as a mechanical design engineer designing custom industrial systems and furnaces for full-service traditional molten salt bath cleaning and conditioning, and salt bath nitriding applications. During his time as a design engineer, Shoemaker was instrumental in working directly with Kolene’s third-party fabricators, and the company’s field service team to lead and supervise the installation of various equipment projects at the customer or end-user’s production site.
In 2016, Shoemaker’s understanding of Kolene’s equipment and chemistry, along with his key relationships with the company’s customers, allowed for the perfect segue into sales — eventually earning the role of Sales Manager in 2019. In fall of 2021, he was named Vice President of Sales, and a Kolene Corporation officer. Recently recognized by the industry, Mr. Shoemaker’s consistent record of success earned him a place on the Heat Treat Today 40 Under 40 Class of 2024. In his new COO role, Mr. Shoemaker will not only have responsibility for sales of the company, but he will also oversee Kolene’s engineering, field service, and project management departments. Shoemaker, 37, earned a BS from the University of Detroit Mercy in Mechanical Engineering, while competing as a Division 1 lacrosse player for the U of D Titans – ultimately being selected as a two year captain of the squad.
Outside of work, Mr. Shoemaker is a scratch golfer and has played in numerous amateur events in Michigan. He, his wife Samantha, and their dog Sadie, reside in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
