Effective December 2, 2024 “Surface Heat Treating & Coatings” (SHC) in Stoney Creek, Ontario Canada has been acquired by “Atlantic Heat Treating” of Ajax, Ontario, Canada. While details are short at this time it would appear that going forward Atlantic Heat Treating will maintain the two locations. SHC has always focused on vacuum heat treating and coatings while Atlantic is a “full service” heat treat offering carburizing, vacuum hardening, nitriding and black oxide.

The two companies have worked closely over the years and at one time there was talk of a formal partnership, obviously things changed. We searched through are photo archives to find a suitable picture to go with this story and came up with this one. In it we see part of the “Atlantic” team with the owner Mr. Jon Mathews on the right. More on this ongoing story in the near future.
