“Major USA Foundry Laying off Employees”, UPDATE!
“A USA foundry and substantial supplier of cast furnace fixturing and components laid off most of their employees two weeks ago. Some employees remain but our understanding is that production has largely ceased. We will have updates on this story as they become available.”

The foundry in question is “Alcon Industries” in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, a foundry which has long been one of the most well-known and respected in the North American heat treat industry. Details remain “sketchy” but our understanding is that the company has had a number of layoffs and a reader received the response below from Alcon just last week in response to an e-mailed RFQ.
