Going way back to August of 2024 “The Monty Heat Treat News” had a news item about commercial heat treater “Metals Technology Corporation” in Carol Stream, IL, USA entering into “receivership”.  “The Monty” continued to track this story and later in 2024 we announced that a potential buyer had been found in the form of “SWD Inc.”, a firm which offers metal finishing of fasteners, which would make for an obvious fit between the two companies. According to this press release the marriage is now consummated and “SWD Inc.” it now the proud owner of Metals Technology Corp.

One thing that jumped out at us about this press release we believe deserves a mention. Rick Delawder, President of “SWD Inc.” states in this press release that “Metals Technology Corp.” is known for them for their high-quality Austemper and Vacuum Heat-Treating Services”. Why did this attract our attention? Because Metals Technology has always had a substantial batch IQ department and this is not mentioned at all in this statement. We believe this is because the team at “The Monty” had been led to believe that “Metals Technology Corporation” has exited the oil quenching business. All in all, an interesting story in the “North American Commercial Heat Treatment Industry”.
