Heat Treatment Monday Morning Briefing

Welcome to the “Monty Heat Treat News” “Monday Morning Briefing” where we provide the latest news and trends in the global heat treatment industry;

AMAC Industries The Final Note; June 2025 the “Monty Heat Treat News” presented an article entitled “Why are so Many North American Commercial Heat Treaters Closing?”. One of the firms mentioned on the closure list was “AMAC Industries” in Cleveland, Ohio, a heat treat/plating firm. “AMAC’s” heat treat department consisted of two 4,000 pounds/hour Can Eng mesh belt furnace lines and two Surface Combustion 3,000 pound/hour cast link belt lines-everything went to auction just last week. Our understanding was that none of this equipment received any interest beyond scrap value. Certainly cast link belt lines are only worth scrap value on the used market, mesh belt lines have some interest but as these were older, tired units interest was slim to say the least.

DELTA H® Technologies Experiencing Record 2026 with Expanded Commercial and Military Manufacturing Growth Strategy; “Carroll, OH – October 2026 – DELTA H Technologies has delivered multiple advance aerospace heat-treating systems for aerospace & defense (A&D), commercial, and military aviation over the past year. The aggressive growth strategy has required doubling DELTA H’s workforce, and re-tooling production capacity to manage a record-breaking backlog of systems in production simultaneously. This increased capacity provides a foundation for further expanding DELTA H’s ability to serve our valued clients with larger orders and systems that are built to last for decades. Richard Conway, Director and CTO of DELTA H Technologies and a U.S. Air Force veteran, adds: “DELTA H, through our partnership with Phillips Federal Division, continues to expand our presence at not only USAF bases, but also all branches of the Armed Forces. Upon completion of our current backlog, DELTA H will have furnaces installed in approximately 75% of the USAF bases worldwide that perform aircraft maintenance. DELTA H’s commitment to A&D contractors for technically advanced systems continues to be an exciting aspect of DELTA H’s expanded growth for the present and into the future.”

The company is now owned by Mason Wells, members of CEL’s management team, and other board members and co-investors. Founded in 1920 and based in Twinsburg, Ohio, CEL manufactures thermocouple products for high-temperature manufacturing environments. Its capabilities include materials science, precious-metals expertise, application engineering, precision manufacturing, and laboratory testing to certify products and materials to customer and industry requirements. CEL operates manufacturing facilities in Twinsburg and Tempe, Arizona. “We are excited about the opportunity to partner with Mason Wells and to continue the company’s next phase of growth,” said Scott Puhalsky, chief executive officer at CEL. “Mason Wells’ experience successfully supporting engineered product businesses will provide CEL the resources and network to achieve its long-term growth initiatives.”

“Alcon Industries” Asset Sale; At one time Alcon Industries of Cleveland, Ohio, USA was one of North America’s premier suppliers of cast and fabricated, high temperature furnace components. Unfortunately, that reputation slipped quite a bit over the past couple of years and the end result is that production has ceased and the remaining assets have been sold to “Wirco”.

Commercial Heat Treater-Med-Tek, Obituary; Earlier this year commercial heat treater “Med-Tek” in Minneapolis, Minnesota closed their doors with the owner winding down the business after a long history. The final chapter is now closed with the building and the remaining equipment sold or scrapped. This photo shows one of the last furnaces to sell.
