Just a few short weeks ago we had an interview with Mr. Mrinal Nandi, an experienced metallurgist with gear manufacturer and captive heat treater Hofmann Engineering in Perth, Australia https://themonty.com/project/mr-mrinal-nandi-of-hofmann-engineering-in-australia/.  Now comes word that the company just carburized their largest gear ever. “Hofmann Engineering has set itself a new record after carburising its’ largest gear to date. The monster 1,848mm diameter, 6.8 ton gear is a few inches bigger than its’ previous best of 1,780mm diameter. The gear spent over 5 days in the furnace and when complete, complied to all requirements of the international gear standard ISO 6336 part 5.”
