Burloak Technologies, an Additive Manufacturing firm who recently installed an in-house heat treating department has now received ISO 17025 accreditation for it’s material Testing Lab. This means the company now has both Nadcap and ISO 17025, a very unusual combination. The one photo below shows the company during a visit by Gord Montgomery of “The Monty Heat Treat News“.

“Burloak Technologies Inc., Oakville, Ontario, Canada, a division of Samuel, Son & Co., Limited, recently celebrated the accreditation of its Oakville Materials Testing Lab to the ISO 17025 standard which outlines general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. Burloak Technologies has been granted accreditation for ISO 17025 for various testing, as well as Nadcap in the areas of tensile testing (AC7101/3), hardness testing (AC7102/5), and metallography testing (AC7101/4). This builds on the company’s earlier Nadcap accreditation for its in-house heat treatment.

This successful accreditation is said to demonstrate both the technical competence and quality management system of its materials testing lab.

“The company’s growing list of certifications and accreditations differentiate us in the North American market, where very few AM companies possess both Nadcap and ISO 17025 accreditation,” stated Jason Ball, Vice President & General Manager of Burloak Technologies. “This means that we can now source metal powder, build AM components and heat treat them in accordance with Nadcap, and then test the products in our materials lab in accordance with ISO 17025 – all in-house. This will not only enable faster turnaround time, but also ensure the highest standards of quality for our customers.”

This milestone was reportedly made possible through the commitment of the company’s Materials Lab team and co-op students from three of Canada’s top universities, all of whom worked together to prepare for and participate in the successful audit.”
