Auto Parts Maker Adds More Nitriding Capacity

Global auto parts giant Linamar continues to increase their in house heat treating capacity, this time in the form of 3 new vacuum nitriding furnaces from Germany based KGO. The furnaces have working dimensions of 48” x 72” x 48” with a weight capacity of 6,000 pounds each. The first will enter production very shortly, the next two over the course of the next year.

The furnaces will be part of Linamar’s heat treating capacity at their Guelph, Ontario, Canada plant. “The Monty Heat Treat News” has consistently ranked Linamar as one of the largest in house heat treaters in North America 10 Largest Single Location Captive Heat Treats-North America 2022 | The Monty In addition to these new arrivals this facility also has 2 ALD vacuum nitriders and 28 batch IQ furnaces making it probably the largest single location batch IQ department in North America.

The list of Linamar facilities which have heat treating departments would tax our time and patience at this moment, however we can say that other facilities include Can Eng continuous furnaces, too many Inductotherm induction heating systems too count and numerous vacuum carburizing systems especially at one of the firms facilities in Mexico.

These photos show the new KGO furnace, others include the ALD nitriders and still others show part of the batch IQ department.

And remember, the only news source in the global heat treatment industry that has this story is “The Monty Heat Treat News”
