McLaughlin Furnace Group Lands Large Furnace Install Project

In 2024 commercial heat treater Cambridge Heat Treating in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada announced that they were closing down with all of the equipment going on to the used market. Cambridge always took great pride in their equipment and it showed-most of it was relatively new and in very good condition. The batch IQ department which consisted of 4 “Surface Combustion Allcases” with working dimensions of 36″ X 48″ X 36″, another “Allcase” with working dimensions of 30″ X 48″ X 30″ and all the associated tempers, washers, charge cars, spare parts and manuals was quickly sold. By the way we should add that two of the “Super 36 Allcase” furnaces were only 5 years old.

The buyer in the US Southeast is a manufacturer who currently has an in-house heat treat department, all of this additional equipment was required for both increased production and also to “modernize” the heat treat department.

“McLaughlin Furnace Group” of Avilla, Indiana was selected as the company to handle the install and any upgrades or repairs as required. The project is currently underway with at least two of the furnaces expected to enter production in the near future. Jeff McLaughlin, founder and CEO of the company had this to say; “While the end user of the equipment was not familiar with our company before this project, they listened to what we had to say and at the end of the day we were very fortunate that they awarded us with this project. I think what convinced them to go with McLaughlin was the fact that we have an immense amount of experience rebuilding and installing used furnaces. I am pleased to say that the project is on time and on schedule.”

It is expected that the entire project with be completed by the second quarter 3rd quarter of 2025. This photo shows the furnaces when installed at “Cambridge Heat Treat”.
