Martin’s Metal Service-A New Game in Town

You can certainly be forgiven if you have not run across the name Martin’s Metal Service previously as this is a very new entry into the US commercial heat treating market (kind of)-lets explain. For many years there has been a commercial heat treater in Springfield, Ohio by the name of Certified Heat Treat. Certified is what we would have considered a “full service” commercial heat treater in that it offered many of the most popular heat treating processes such as carburizing, vacuum, induction, annealing and a number of others.

January 2, 2018 the company was acquired by Thermal Process Holdings, one of the largest commercial heat treaters in North America as ranked by “The Monty Heat Treat News” https://themonty.com/project/the-monty-heat-treat-news-50-largest-north-american-commercial-heat-treats-2022/. This was the second commercial heat treater to fall under the Thermal Process Holdings banner, the first being Diamond Heat Treat of Rockford, Illinois, USA. In 2022 Certified was closed, however perhaps predictions of their death were perhaps premature.

As it turns out some of the equipment and processes were indeed shut down and sold off but two of the former employees have continued the business in the current location. Kevin Martin an employee for 38 years and his daughter Brandi who was an employee of the company for 12 years are now running the company under the name “Martin’s Metal Services LLC”. They are offering Induction hardening and annealing, Flame Hardening, Stress Relieving plus a few other processes https://martinsmetalservices.com/

Kevin and Brandi are good people and we wish them the best of luck in their new venture. To round out this story we are including a photo of the carburizing department when it was part of Thermal Process Holdings as we saw it a few years ago.
