For 30 years “The Monty Heat Treat News” has been putting together heat treatment lists; “The Largest European Commercial Heat Treaters”, “The Largest North American Furnace Builders”, “The 50 Largest North American Commercial Heat Treaters”, “The Most Influential Individuals in the Heat Treatment Industry”-you name it and “The Monty” has probably done a list about it. One list which we have done several times over the years is “ The 10 Largest Single Location Captive Heat Treats in North America”, a list which we updated just last week-August 17^th to be exact 10 Largest Single Location Captive Heat Treats-North America | The Monty.

Now the interesting thing about these lists is that they always generate a great deal of feedback which consequently leads to corrections and additions-such is the case with our most recent list of the “10 Largest Single Location Heat Treats in North America”. Recent feedback to our published list lead us to move GKN Driveline in Newton, SC into second position, increase the number of carburizing cells at Ford, Sharonville, Ohio (in our #1 position), and make modifications to the furnace list at Stellantis in Kokomo, Indiana.

We now realize we have made a major “faux pas” over the years in that we have missed a company which should have been very obvious to us. We have long thought that auto parts supplier Linamar in Guelph, Ontario, Canada had the largest batch IQ department under one roof in North America with a stunning total of 25 batch IQ units each with working dimensions of 36” X 48” X 36”. Well move over Linamar we have now been lead to believe that the Allison Transmission Campus in Speedway, IN has got this beat. For the team at “The Monty Heat Treat News” this means more work in that we will have to update our list. Coming soon.
