Interesting Heat Treats-voestalpine High Performance Metals

voestalpine is based in Linz, Austria and is one of the leading European partners of the automotive, white goods, and energy industries. Additionally, it is a world market leader in railway turnout technology, tool steel, and special sections, as well as number one in Europe for the manufacture of rails. Our High Performance Metals Canadian division, located in Mississauga, Ontario, focuses on technologically demanding product segments and is a Canadian market leader for specialty steels, tool steel, and other value added services such as machining, heat treatment and PVD Coatings.

With that prelude out of the way lets look at these photos from the archives of “The Monty Heat Treat News“. As stated in the introduction voestalpine maintains an absolute top notch captive/commercial heat treat facility in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. When the company first invested in this facility it included a monster 12 bar quenching Ipsen vacuum furnace which was one of the few in North America certified to do dies for General Motors.

Over the years this location has grown to include a number of vacuum furnaces combined with nitriding capabilities. It has been rated by “The Monty Heat Treat News” as one of the largest commercial heat treaters in North America and a ranking of all of the company’s heat treat facilities around the world would reveal it as a very substantial player globally. In these photos you see Mr. Jerry Barvinek, Business Unit Manager on the left and Mr. Carlos Sartori on the right. Carlos was General Manager for a period of time before returning to his native Brazil showing yet again how small the heat treatment industry is.
