HI TecMetal Group Acquires Universal Heat Treating, Cleveland-Invests in More Furnaces

“HI TecMetal Group, Inc. (HTG) a leading provider of metal brazing and heat-treating services announced that on June 1st 2022, it acquired the business of Universal Heat Treating, Inc. (UHT), one of Cleveland’s largest commercial heat treaters. For 57 years, UHT has provided commercial metal processing services to a variety of industries, including automotive, heavy truck, energy, wire rope, heavy equipment, rail and agriculture. With this acquisition, HTG has expanded the capacity of its already comprehensive metal processing offerings. This increased capacity will provide greater one-stop-shopping and increased technical sophistication for HTG customers. The team is currently installing Two Surface Super 30 integral quench furnaces, one Surface dunk/spray washers, two Surface temper furnaces and an endothermic gas atmosphere generator, all scheduled for completion in August. Once operational, these furnaces will enhance delivery of smaller orders.”

“UHT History: UHT was founded in 1965, Ernie D’Amato, son in law of Richard Walter, founder, became President in 1988. His son, Michael purchased the business from his father in 2019. Michael D’Amato joined UHT in 2009 from Key Bank and Pakmode Publications which he was a co-founder. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University. The D’Amatos expanded operations over the years to include carburizing, carbonitriding and atmosphere alloy hardening. In 1990, UHT added a vacuum furnace to the plant to heat treat tool steel in a vacuum atmosphere, thus enabling the tool steel to have a cleaner finish after the heat treat process.”
