Over the course of the next two weeks “The Monty Heat Treat News” will be visiting and profiling a number of in house heat treaters along with commercial heat treaters and industry suppliers. The first visit was to Krohne, UK which just last year installed the largest horizontal vacuum furnace in the country (part of the history is below). The basic background to this furnace is below, next week we will have a short video of the furnace in operation along with some very in depth details about the system. Tomorrow our visits will include the Rolls Royce/Bodycote location in Derby, UK.

The furnace which was supplied by Ipsen, has working dimensions of 1200mm x 1200mm x 2400mm with an all moly hot zone and 6 bar quaenching. It was installed by Vacuum & Atmosphere Services who have just completed the installation with commissioning planned for next week. Mike Long of VAS has these comments;
