Very unfortunately one of the larger German commercial heat treaters, HTU Härtetechnik GmbH https://www.htu-haertetechnik.de/ in Uhldingen-Mühlhofen, Germany entered insolvency proceedings February 17, 2023. Plans are that the company will remain in business, pay employees and suppliers and continue on until all issues have been resolved. HTU is a very respectable company with roughly 165 employees. “The Monty Heat Treat News” visited this location a few years back and our archives revealed these photos. You will see Joern Rohde of furnace builder Rohde in Hanau, Germany and Gord Montgomery of “The Monty Heat Treat News“.

This facility features a number of different furnaces including continuous furnaces and batch nitriding equipment. We walked away from this plant being very impressed by the cleanliness of the facility as well as the fact that all of the furnaces were new and top of the line.
