Furnace Manufacturer Vac Aero has recently appointed Mr. Patrick Arcichowski as Sales Manager. Patrick will be taking over from Bill Potts who will be retiring as of April 30th 2022 after almost exactly 40 years with the company. Patrick brings with him many years experience in the steel fabrication industry.
Vac Aero based in Oakville, Ontario, Canada has a long and impressive history in the heat treat industry. The vacuum furnace manufacturing division in Burlington, Ontario, Canada has been building horizontal and vertical vacuum furnaces since 1959. In addition the company has a specialty coating division based in Boucherville, Quebec.
The company also has a large thermal processing division located in Oakville, Ontario which is one of the largest subcontract aerospace heat treaters in North America. “Natural-gas prices extended their climb Thursday, bucking seasonal trends as demand from overseas continues to pressure inventories. U.S. natural-gas futures for May delivery rose 4.3% Thursday to $7.3000 per million British thermal units—a 96% rise in the year to date. While natural gas stockpiles rose modestly during the week ended April 8, they remain nearly 25% below last year’s levels and 18% below the five-year average for this time of year, according to data released Thursday by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Demand for natural gas usually wanes in the spring as temperatures pick up, pushing prices lower before gas-powered cooling demand kicks in for the summer. But geopolitics and supply issues have driven a sharp rise in the commodity’s price in 2022. Energy prices have been higher across the board since the war in Ukraine and Western sanctions curtailed demand for Russia’s oil and natural gas exports. As Europe seeks alternatives, demand for U.S. natural gas has driven prices to the highest levels since 2008.
For comparison, prices were below $2 per million British thermal units before the pandemic. “Global natural gas markets are likely to be laser-focused on energy and national security interests due to the ongoing shift away from Russian energy imports in the West,” said Ryan Fitzmaurice, a senior commodity strategist at Rabobank. While analysts expect developments overseas to keep natural-gas prices higher this summer, the weather will come into play. Demand for the power-generation fuel tends to rise with extreme temperatures, which means hot weather could be bullish for the market. Analysts at energy advisory firm Ritterbusch & Associates said they expect the steep increase in natural-gas prices to continue. “We can envision further advance to about the $7.35 area when looking out across next week. Overall, this doesn’t feel like a market ready to establish an interim price top,” they wrote in a note to clients.”

“A global manufacturer of electronic components with engineering centers and factories worldwide has purchased a vacuum tempering furnace from SECO/VACUUM, a SECO/WARWICK Group Company, for one of its plants in Pennsylvania. With a chamber of 48” x 48” x 72” deep, the furnace will be used to anneal copper and steel electrical connectors used in subsequent assemblies. The new equipment will deliver added capacity to meet increased demand for the company’s products. The order includes a turbo-cooling feature designed to improve turnaround time from batch to batch and maximize throughput.
VT tempering furnaces are compact in design and operate up to 1,382 °F while providing vacuum tempering, annealing, stress-relieving, and other clean processing such as precipitation hardening. Peter Zawistowski, Managing Director of SECO/VACUUM, said,
“We are finding increasing opportunities in markets with broad supply chain stresses. We are doing our part with this global electronics supplier to provide the boost they need to achieve an integrated recovery with their customers. Every little bit helps, and we’re pleased to be a part of the solution.”

In Germany we see that Mr. Dietmar Voigtländer who was Sales Manager for Plateg Plasma Nitriding systems for many years has branched off on his own. His new company is DVo Consulting and he describes himself as a private consultant for plasma nitriding technology. Plateg is well known in Europe for their Plasma nitriding systems but is virtually unheard of in the North American heat treatment industry.
