So who is the US based furnace builder which is up for sale? Over the course of the past week all of the major furnace builders in the US have received an e mail about a US builder of furnaces which is up for sale. The basic information suggests that this company is in the US Northeast, has sales of over $20 million USD, operates out of a single location, concentrates on continuous furnaces and has roughly 80 employees. While we have our guesses as to who this is, that is all we have-an educated guess. We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.

The chosen solution was an NX series furnace, model NX-620, for nitriding challenging steam turbine components made of ST12T stainless steel using the reconstruction method. These parts are used for steam turbines in power generation plants. “POSTEOR decided to bring nitriding operations in-house because of the difficulty that heat treating service companies encountered with the complexity of the process and the uncertainty of the end results,” explains Marcin Stokłosa, Project Manager at NITREX responsible for this sale. The pit-type NX-620 comes equipped with all available technologies for NITREGR nitriding, NITREGR-C nitrocarburizing, and ONCR in-process oxidation. It also complies with all the necessary industry requirements for such processes: AMS 2750F, AMS 2759/6, ASM 2759/10, and AMS 2759/12.
“The turnkey system also includes remote access software, an INS neutralizer for a clean and environment-friendly process, and a custom HMI for the end-user. It is entirely automated, requiring little operator attendance or involvement,” describes Mr. Stokłosa.”

In the UK, Wallwork Heat Treatment one of the largest commercial heat treaters in the country has just taken delivery of a new vacuum furnace, the first of 3 to be exact. The furnace was provided by Rubig of Austria and it just arrived at one of Wallwork’s UK facilities earlier this week, with the other two due before the end of the year. “The Monty Heat Treat News” has been fortunate enough to be able to visit Wallwork several times over the year, most recently in October of 2021 when we provided this summary of the company;
“OCTOBER 2021; Wallwork Group, Bury, UK; Very recently “The Monty Heat Treat News” was fortunate enough to be able to visit commercial heat treater Wallwork in Bury, UK a trip which we last made in 2013. https://www.wallworkht.co.uk/ has a number of locations not all involved in heat treating, our interest of course lies in the commercial heat treat facilities of which the facility in Bury, UK is the headquarters. If any commercial heat treat facility can be considered full service it would be this one. During out tour we saw salt, sealed quench furnaces, nitriding, aluminum drop bottom ovens, Induction, vacuum and vacuum carburizing. What was of most interest to us was the changes and investments in the past 8 years. While they were impressive and numerous the most obvious examples were in the vacuum department with some new additions, the most recent one being a vacuum carburizing system.”

“At the opening night kickoff reception, Furnaces North America (FNA 2022), North America’s premier trade show and technical conference, recognized Jim Oakes, President of Super Systems in Cincinnati, OH with the first ever FNA Industry Award.
This award is given to an individual in recognition of their contribution(s) and current/ongoing commitment to the betterment of the heat treating industry with one or more significant accomplishments in the last 5 years in the area of innovation, leadership, academia, or research.
The Metal Treating Institute’s 2018 President, Pete Hushek, who gave the award to Jim stated, “Over the last five years, no one has been more deserving of this award than Jim Oakes. Having served as President of ASM for two years and immediately being elected as President, serving two years during the pandemic, along with his service in a host of other technical standards groups, Jim’s leadership shined as he led two of the major associations the last 5 years.”
Jim Oakes stated upon receiving the award, “This is truly an incredible honor to be recognized by my peers. We don’t do what we do for awards. We do it to make a difference. It is through that difference that we make a better future for everyone. It has always been a pleasure to serve this great industry.”

“Furnaces North America 2022, North America’s premier trade show and technical conference in the heat treating industry, is excited to announce it attracted over 1,200 attendees from across the world this week to the Indianapolis Convention Center. Over the last three days attendees experienced connection with over 125+ top suppliers in the heat treating industry, 35 educational sessions in 10 tracks, and 2 packed social networking events.
Attendees were full of energy and excitement as many stated it felt great to get back to an in-person meeting, actually talk to people, and view equipment and products to help improve their business.
Exhibitors stated the energy and quality of attendees on the show floor were amazing. Attendees were all about connecting with suppliers to hear how they could help them improve through the current challenges with supply chain issues, automation, and labor shortages.
FNA Show Producer, Tom Morrison stated, “When the show doors opened up, it was so exciting the see the reconnection of supplier and customer. FNA is a big success because a lot of people including the Metal Treating Institute volunteers, sponsors, and management, who put their heart and soul into delivering a world class event. It was exciting to see that hard work payoff this week.”
Everyone stated they can’t wait until Furnaces North America 2024. FNA Show Management announced it will host FNA 2024 in Columbus, OH on October 14-16 at the Columbus Convention Center with the Hilton Columbus serving as the host hotel.
