After company founder and long-time CEO of BOSIO d.o.o., Mr. Hugo Bosio, turned to new challenges, the management of the successful industrial company was reorganized on February 1, 2023.
As a new addition to the management team of AICHELIN Group, Mr. Marko Klinc will be in charge of production at BOSIO as Managing Director. At the same time, he will be the sole managing director of AICHELIN Assembly Center Europe (ACE), which is located at the same site in Slovenia.
ACE recently launched the first expansion stage of one of the most modern production facilities for heat treatment plants in Europe in the Slovenian city of Celje. Here, plants for almost all companies in the industrial furnace construction sector of AICHELIN Group in Europe are manufactured and assembled.
As an experienced manager, Dipl.-Ing. Marko Klinc has acquired extensive expertise at Slovenian industrial group Gorenje, which he will be able to apply perfectly to his new area of responsibility.
At BOSIO d.o.o., he will be assisted by Dipl.-Ing. Michael Reisner as an additional managing director, who will be primarily responsible for the new installations business. Mr. Reisner has been and will continue to be Managing Director of Austrian heat treatment plant manufacturer AICHELIN Ges.m.b.H. in Mödling. This dual function ensures that customers can benefit from the best solution from both companies’ portfolios for their specific requirements.

Dale and Gord Montgomery will be visiting Vietnam in mid march of this year with the intention of visiting at least one heat treat. While news about the heat treat industry there is very rare “The Monty Heat Treat News” has spoken in the past about a pump manufacturer in the country who has a very substantial heat treat department.
The department consists of batch IQ furnaces originally built by Ipsen as well as box furnaces, tempers and an endothermic generator all provided by McLaughlin Furnace Group of Avilla, Indiana, USA. We have these photos of the facility as well as some of the equipment as it was being built by McLaughlin. At least one of these pictures includes Mr. Stephen Christopher of controls company SSi of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.

Standard Motor Products, Inc. https://www.smpcorp.com/en is a leading manufacturer and distributor of premium automotive parts to both the aftermarket and original equipment customers. In the aftermarket, SMP’s products are used in the maintenance, service and repair of vehicles, and are largely non-discretionary in nature. The company has locations around the world including Greenville, SC, USA, a facility which concentrates on automotive fuel injectors.
“The Monty Heat Treat News” had the priviledge of visiting this location recently and what we saw was a very clean modern facility with a small but advanced in-house heat treatment department. The most recent addition to this department is a 2 bar quenching vacuum furnace provided by TAV vacuum furnaces through their local division, Furnacare located just down the road in Spartanburg, SC.
“FEBRUARY 28, 2023; Furnacare/TAV Vacuum Furnaces, Spartanburg, SC, USA; In Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA “The Monty Heat Treat News” recently had the opportunity to visit “Furnacare” a division of TAV and TAV Engineering of Italy. TAV is one of the largest vacuum furnace builders in the world while TAV Engineering offers service, support and aftermarket assistance.
TAV is an Italian, family owned business who made the decision a number of years ago to market their products in North America through Furnacare. With almost 1,000 furnaces installed around the world and roughly 225 employees TAV is a well known firm globally-in North America they expect to have installed almost 50 systems making them a known and growing vacuum furnace builder. It is worth noting that the company has a relatively narrow focus-vacuum, sintering and debinding furnaces are their bread and butter.
The Furnacare location in Spartanburg is approximately 10,000 square feet and plans have this being utilized for sales as well as spare parts, new hot zones and service work. Energy Pricing has been an enormous issue to the global heat treatment industry and “The Monty Heat Treat News” has touched on this subject many times. Very recently a Japanese reader sent us this article with a summary that North Americans have little to complain about. Their example is a company by the name of Tamura Kougyo, a commercial heat treater who has seen their energy costs double in a very short period of time.
“Some of Japan’s small and medium-sized industrial businesses have been struggling with rocketing energy bills since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Tamura Kougyo applies heat treatment to auto parts and other items to enhance their strength. Its 130 workers at a factory near Tokyo process steel and other substances at temperatures of nearly 800 degrees Celsius.
Its monthly fuel bills peaked in November at 82 million yen, or more than 600,000 dollars. That’s almost double the price in yen terms from before the Russian invasion. Tamura Kougyo says soaring prices of liquefied natural gas have pushed up its electricity and gas costs. A global chip shortage is also to blame. The company had to temporarily halt some operations when the semiconductor crunch forced automakers to reduce output. But when the situation started to normalize, Tamura Kougyo had to burn extra fuel to restart its facilities.
Company officials say they have managed to cut energy consumption by 20 to 30 percent through improved efficiency. They also plan to study whether to upgrade their nearly 50-year-old facilities. President Tamura Daisuke says, “It’s easy to talk about energy conservation. But it really means a lot of hard work behind the scenes. We aren’t afraid of failure but we are going to try and do something about it.” He says he and his staff will work together by combining their knowledge.”

January 9th of this year it was announced that commercial heat treater Vac-Met in Michigan had been acquired by Solar Atmospheres. That announcement also mentioned that the 9 existing vacuum furnaces at Vac-Met would be moved to a brand new location in Chesterfield, Michigan.
Armed with this information Gord Montgomery of “The Monty Heat Treat News” visited the existing Vac-Met locations and the new facility with tour guide Bob Hill, President of Solar Atmospheres of Michigan.
Based on this tour “The Monty” has three photos to share with you showing the progress which has been made. The first photo shows the first furnace which will arrive at the plant, currently it is undergoing testing at Solar Manufacturing and is expected to be delivered in the next few weeks.
The second picture shows the next furnace which will arrive, this VFS 2 bar furnace has working dimensions of 10’ X 84” X 84” and is currently located at the Vac-Met location in Fraser, Michigan. In front we see Gord Montgomery, Bob Hill and Andrew Cronkright who will be the Production Manager in Chesterfield.
The final photo happens to be our favorite. In it we see Bob Hill in the new plant, a facility which is right on schedule to meet the planned start date of the end of 2023. As you can see Bob is positively beaming at the progress that has been made and rightfully so.
“Chesterfield, MI, January 9, 2023 – Solar Atmospheres of Michigan, formerly Vac-Met, has recently purchased 18,000 square feet of plant space on four plus acres in Chesterfield Michigan. The new building is 20 miles Northeast of the two existing Vac-Met facilities which are currently located in Warren and Fraser Michigan.
Bob Hill, President of Solar Atmospheres of Michigan Inc states, “We are working feverishly in 2023 to prepare and equip this new facility to make it our fifth state of the art vacuum heat treating and brazing facility in the United States. Once all of the electrical, water cooling and specialty gas utilities are installed, we will strategically relocate the nine existing vacuum furnaces to their new home. Additionally, two new vacuum furnaces were purchased from Solar Manufacturing.” Hill continues, “This investment of over $5 Million dollars gives Solar Atmospheres of Michigan the space to locate our valuable employees and equipment under one roof while continuing to grow the Michigan vacuum thermal processing needs.”

“Jimmy Neil Morris, 63, of Muldrow, died on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, in Muldrow. He was born on May 14, 1959, in Wellington, Texas, to J.C. Morris Sr. and Esther Lavonia (Waye) Morris. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services.
He was an Army veteran, honorably discharged. He worked for the aerospace industry, working as an expert in heat treating/metallurgy engineering. He traveled the United States working for many aerospace companies. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening and treasure hunting with his metal detector. He married Patricia Kay Jackson on March 31, 1977. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Morris of Muldrow; two brothers, J.C. Morris Jr. of Denton, Texas, and Rudy and Susan of Fort Pierce, Fla.; one sister, Shari and Matt of Greenville, Texas; brother-in-law, Charles Jackson of Snyder; and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.”

“Noxmat Industrial Heating Technology” formally entered the North American market March 1/2023 when they set up a brand new facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA. Noxmat based in Germany has long been a significant player in the global heating technology industry with locations in Europe, China, India and now the USA.
Noxmat, which is a company to offer both gas and electrical heating solutions now has a location in the Detroit area which will initially offer sales, service, support, spare parts and inventory with an eye to manufacturing in the USA in the future.
Matt Wolf, President of the global Noxmat Group is the man responsible for this investment and he was recently joined by Mr. Zach Spraggins, who will be Director of Business Development. Interestingly enough Zach until recently was Regional General Manager for commercial heat treater Bodycote.
As a footnote to this story we can add that January 1st of this year Noxmat acquired another manufacturer of industrial Gas burners, Wiedemann, a German company with a long tradition of supplying heating systems to the aluminum heat treating industry.
