June 30^th of this year will mean the closure of a small commercial heat treating firm by the name of “Katy Heat Treat” in Katy, Texas-just outside of Houston. We alluded to this closing June 9th, 2025 in an exclusive article by “The Monty Heat Treat News” entitled “Why are so Many North American Commercial Heat Treaters Closing”?

Katy Heat Treat offered a few different heat treat processes including vacuum hardening, neutral hardening, normalizing and tempering. In our original article about commercial heat treaters in North American closing we suggested several reasons why so many are closing, Katy HT would fall into the “retirement” category-namely a couple of long time heat treaters who would like a change of pace and new challenges.
