Item #S010AFC Mesh Belt Austemper Line.Operating life of equipment was 1979-2005. Equipment was in full production until plant shutdown. The equipment was refurbished in 2002 by Great Lakes Company (located in the Detroit area). Rework on the austenitizing furnace consisted of all new Yokogawa temperature control instruments with paperless temperature and carbon control recording, all new recuperated radiant tube burners, re-work of cold belt return and water sealing under the furnace. Original AFC hand drawings are available. Original AFC operating instructions are available.

Technical Details Austenitizing Furnace• Production capability is 900 pounds per hour based on belt loading of 10#/ft2 and time in the furnace of 26 minutes. • Furnace belt 36” wide x 16’-8” effective length. Roller hearth design with variable speed. • Three (3) zones of temperature control with one (1) zone of automatic carbon control. • Paperless recording of temperature and carbon. • Burner input of 2,500,000 Btu/hour with 5 HP combustion air blower.

Austemper Tank • Capacity of 85,000 pounds of salt. Insulated tank with a maximum temperature of 750°F. • Quench conveyor is 42” wide with variable speed control. • Quench curtain pump is 2 HP. Salt agitation pump is 18” diameter propeller with 7½ HP motor. • Gas fired heating system is 1,000,000 Btu/hour with 3 HP combustion air blower. • Individual temperature controls and separate gas safety train.

Holding Tank • Capacity of 85,000 pounds of salt. Non-insulated tank. • Gas-fired heating system, 1,000,000 Btu/hour. • Temperature controls, combustion air blower and gas safety train shared with the austemper tank through a selector switch.

Item #S009 Austempering Line. This is a mesh belt austempering line capable of producing to 1200 lbs/hour of light gauge stampings. Installed June 2007 by National Applied Scientific Systems (NASS). Endo atmosphere, gas fired. The line consists of any/all of the following options: • Yohogowa Computer Control System for zones 1 & 2 Temperature Control and High Limit Control, Atmosphere, Salt Temperature, High Limit Quench, Heated Rinse & Variable Belt Speed Control for Furnace and Salt Belt. The system allows for remote monitoring. • Hercules 1,000 lbs Capacity Parts Dumper into Syntron Automatic Feed System w/ Weight Control and Livonia Portable 19” Wide Magnetic Feed Conveyor. -------OR------- • Metro Loader - Includes a hydraulic tote dumper, parts hopper, two vibratory trays with load cells. This unit is controlled by a computer and has proven to be an exceptionally flexible and accurate parts loader. It can be installed so that one tray can be shuttled aside in order to hand load the furnace. • Hardening Furnace - Furnace hot zone is 144 inches from inner wall to drum center and is capable of producing 1000 to 1200 lbs/hour of light gauge stampings running at a belt speed of 14 “/min. and a loading density of 12 lbs/SF. The 48 inch wide belt is of fine closed weave design in order to prevent part mixing. The full range of furnace belt adjustment is 10-20”/min. The furnace opening at the preheat has been closed down to about 2” because the original part loading was 1” at Tinnerman. The overall height can be easily increased to 6” for commercial use. The 14’ overall heated length is heated by 9 sealed radiant “U” tubes w/direct spark ignition and all tubes have recuperators. The temperature operating range is 1475-1725˚F. Maximum temperature is 1900˚F. There are two zones with Fanuc PLC2 Honeywell Temperature Controllers, (2) Honeywell Oven Temperature Controllers, Yokogawa Computer Monitoring System w/Satellite Monitoring Capability. Roof Mounted Axial Flow Recirculating Fan, and Super Systems Oxygen Sensor and Control Box for carbon control. • Austemper Tank- Capacity 4,500 gallons/72,180 lbs of salt with a maximum temperature limit of 800˚F. Dimensions 15’6” L x 9’6” W x 5’7” H. Quench Conveyor 48” W mesh belt & Drive Package on Discharge End, Quench Pump 10 HP, gas-fired by two 750,000 BTU/hr with 3-HP Combustion Blower. -------OR------- We can offer to provide a 60” oversize salt belt with heavy duty drive. It is our recommendation that wider is better in dealing with salt quench belts simply because it helps prevent belt jams (and no one likes to pump salt). • (2) Rinse tanks - with 42” Wide mesh belts- 1160 gal tanks, 8’10” L x 5’5” W x 3’6” D & (1) 1560 gal tank 10’4” x 5’9” W x 3’6”D. -------OR------- We are able to offer a third rinse tank with a 48” belt. There are a number of benefits that are realized by installing a third rinse. The belt can be utilized so that the line can be installed in a “U” configuration to reduce footprint. • Holding Tank- 5,800 gal. capacity/93,000lbs salt/light insulation and removable & reinforced top, 500,000 BTU per hour gas-fired immersion tube with stand-alone controls and gas safety train. ------AND------ • Tempering Furnace- AFC mesh belt temper, 60 inch wide belt. Asking $265,000 USD loaded on to a truck. Top of Page
